Dowitcher, Long-billed, non-breeding plumage with signs of change to breeding plumage (Limnodromus scolopaceus) - 18 Feb 08 - San Diego River estuary, CA. Those with longest bills are females; those with shorter bills are probably males (e.g. bird at right in right inset) but may be Short-billed Dowitchers.
