Tui (Prosthemadera novaeseelandiae novaeseelandiae) - 11 Jan 07 - Te Anau, NZ. For those in the U.S. these look like Grackles with a white tuft at the throat and sound a bit like them too. I hear lots of them and saw several flying, but they would rarely pose for me which accounts for this poor picture as it preened its tufts.
