088 Temple of the Sun 0535

Back it the city we stopped at the Incan Temple of the Sun where we got our first look at typical Incan architecture: Trapezoidal doors, windows and niches. Lintels rather than arches (the Incans didn't have arches), inward leaning walls, and mortarless joints (only used in sacred buildings). This site is enclosed in a modern building, part of the cathedral complex.
